Hiking on Mount Tamalpais Monday afternoon. Just 45 minutes north of San Francisco. Day parking is free. The trails are easy to moderate and the views of the City, Marin, the bay and the Sierra’s are amazing.

West Point Inn
The last trail, Old Stage Road, we took led straight to this hikers Inn. The West Point Inn has there since 1904, and was a rest stop for those traveling on the Railroad. The trail was where the track used to be, it was the “crookedest railroad in the world” before it was burned in 1930.
The Inn is really cute. The owner was there to greet us and told us we could stay there for $50 per person a night, you need to bring your own bedding, towels and food though. They have a fully stocked kitchen guests can use. There is no electricity in the house so he told us to bring flash lights. Apparently in the summer they serve a hot pancake and sausage breakfast to raise money for the Inn. And you can rent out the entire Inn for $1,000.
